WHO WROTE IT?

Chad Wilson

Played the position. Coached the position. Developed elite defensive backs.

Chad Wilson played defensive back at Long Beach State under legendary coach George Allen before transferring to the University of Miami. As a Hurricane, he earned All-Big East honors in 1994 with three interceptions and 11 pass breakups on a defense ranked No. 2 nationally against the pass. He later signed with the Seattle Seahawks.

Since 2003, Wilson has coached and mentored players from youth football through the professional level. He served as defensive coordinator for University School’s 2012 state championship team and American Heritage’s back-to-back state championship teams in 2016 and 2017. His work with defensive backs includes Patrick Surtain II and Tyson Campbell, who were ranked the nation’s top two cornerback recruits.

Both of Wilson’s sons, Quincy Wilson and Marco Wilson, were selected in the NFL Draft. As a father, he understands what parents want for their young athletes: sound instruction, confidence and a chance to reach their potential. Wilson has also worked with more than 50 NFL defensive backs, bringing that experience into the way he teaches the position.

As founder of All Eyes DB Camp, Wilson teaches the details that separate good press coverage from guessing at the line of scrimmage. Wilson is also the author of other defensive back training books and guides, including 101 DB Tips. The Art of Press is not his first book. It builds on years of writing and teaching the finer points of defensive back play, with a focused look at winning at the line of scrimmage. It’s instruction you can study, revisit and apply.
