Playing press man coverage can be fun if you have the technique and ability. It’s also fun when the opposing offense can’t handle your press man pressure and their receivers can’t get open. However, all that press man can turn into a nightmare when the team you are facing knows how to scheme themselves open.

One of offenses’ favorite ways to beat press if they are not athletically superior is with rub routes and mesh concepts. These tactics can be very effective in getting their athletes wide open but there is a way to help yourself against such schemes.

The best way to protect yourself against such things is by playing man coverage on different levels vs. the offenses’ formations. IN this video, I detail exactly what that means and how it is effective in combating rub routes.
