What Did He Do Wrong? Isolated Raven

In this episode of What Did He Do Wrong,  I take a look at what is a tough cover for safeties.  Sometimes,  safeties find themselves isolated in a 1-on-1 situation with a speedy number two or three receiver with a ton of space all around them.

In the video clip below I take a look at a rep from a game in 2021 between the Baltimore Ravens and the Miami Dolphins.  In the clips,  the Ravens safety finds himself in a 1-on-1 situation like the one I described against Jalen Waddle.  As we know,  Waddle is a burner who can get on top of and by you in a heartbeat.

Typically,  this situation causes panic for safeties and that leads to poor technique and execution.  That’s why people recruit speed.  Anyway,  I break down what went wrong in the rep and what safeties in this situation should do to keep things in their favor.  If you are a safety on a team that plays man coverage or a lot of quarters,  this video is definitely for you.
