How to Align: Nicelbacks in Cover 1

Continuing my series on how to align for secondary members playing man coverage,  in this post we are talking about nickelbacks and or safeties that are tasked with covering slot wide receivers.

There are two very important things for these defenders to know if they want to be successful covering in the slot.  First,  is where they are on the field and where there help is.  It’s not just enough to know only your job even in man coverage.  Knowing the entire defense even down to who is going to be blitzing can help you defend your man better.

In the video,  I talk about the proper places to line up based on the splits by the slot wide receiver and where your help is on the field.  It is important for defenders to know this.
