Post Views: 3,404 Being outstanding in press at the line of scrimmage is great but the truth is you aren’t always going to win at the line of scrimmage and WRs will get releases. The question is will you know what to do when they do get a release? In this video I talk about a great drill that I implement in my training with my guys called “Top of the Route Drill”. This drill teaches our DBs and LBs what to focus on and how to mirror the hips of a WR when he makes his break and drives to his destination point in the route. The major points are (1) Keep the eyes on the near hip (2) Staying low in preparation for having to make a break (3) Planting and replacing once the WR breaks (4) Driving the hips and beating WR to the spot Listen as I go more in-depth in the video on those points with respect to this drill. Grab a partner and do this one when you are out training then watch yourself be more of a factor when the ball is in the air and on it’s way to the WR.
