Post Views: 1,759 In this edition of “Inside the Session” we are working on half field coverage drills. The coverage we are working is Cover 2. After splitting the athletes up and getting my first three on the field (corner, LB / Nickel and Safety) I go over the effective way to play cover 2. Listen as I talk the defenders through how Cover 2 is played and what we are trying to achieve by running the coverage. There are some good nuggets in there with regards to little things they need to do to make the coverage work. Cover 2 is one of my favorite coverages especially when you have obtained a sizable lead in a game over an opponent and they must pass to get back into the contest. Often times, the offense will be out to get big chunks of yardage and when played right, Cover 2 limits the offense’s ability to do that.
