Post Views: 1,905 Sometimes we run into receivers that are a problem. When that is the case, the defense may run something that is known as bracket coverage. In the video down below, I explain what bracket coverage is and how it differs from other ways that a Defense might double team a wide receiver. Often times when an opponent has a speedy wide receiver that presents a match up problem for cornerbacks that might find themselves in man situations, the defense will look for solutions like a double team. One of the more common double teams that the defense will engage in is cloud coverage, where you send a safety over the top of a corner to limit the offenses’ ability to get an explosive play up the field. However, what do you do when that speedy Wide Reciever is beating you over the middle and across the field or he’s line up in the slot? That’s where bracket coverage comes in. Bracket coverage involves two defenders, typically a safety and a low defender like a cornerback or linebacker, trying to sandwich the speedy or troublesome wide receiver inside and out. I explained this in greater detail in the video below.
