Post Views: 1,764 A lot of guys want to use their hands in press coverage. Often times they want to use them more than they want to use their eyes and their feet. However, do you know the right way to use them to your advantage? This video clip is taken from a session that I had out in Phoenix, Arizona while working with NFL 2019 draft class members Nasir Adderley from Delaware and Rock Ya Sin from Temple. In this clip, I am discussing how to use your hands after a two hand jam once the receiver steps out of your frame and is attempting to get vertical up the field on you. The emphasis in the clip is on being aggressive with the off hand once you need to get your hips open to run up the field. Instead of just laying that hand on the receiver, make him uncomfortable by being strong with it. In the process you also put yourself in better position to be over the top and in phase on a deep route. This is not everything to using your hands in press. A video discussing other principles related to that will come at a later date but this aspect is very important. It can give you quite the unexpected edge in press coverage once you and the WR exit the line of scrimmage.
