Post Views: 1,683 I have a treat for you today. So much of the emphasis on playing man to man as a defensive back, especially corner, is on playing press man. With that said, playing off man has become a lost art. In this video, I restore the picture and give you the tips you need to be successful at playing off. This is a clip from our Palm Beach, FL session where I discuss how to align, what to look for and then how to react when playing off man coverage. Why do we need to play off man coverage? For one, it’s because your coach is going to need you to. It isn’t every time that you want to play man that you want to line up in press as a defense so that you show your hand to the offense. It sure is nice to line up in off coverage to give the illusion of it being a zone. Also, there may be a time when playing press man against a WR is not in your best interest. Perhaps the WR is a tough match up for you in press. It sure is nice to be able to have another tool at your disposal which is to play off and do so with confidence. At the end of the portion of the video in which I am discussing how to play off man, I have included a few clips from a camp that happened the next day in which the very things that I discussed with the group actually happens on the field. I want to apologize in advance for the audio which in a few instances, it can be hard to hear me because of the wind blowing but those parts are few and far in between. Overall, this is one of the better Inside the Session videos I have posted. Enjoy it.
