Press Man Talk with Pole Drill

You may have to turn your volume up for this one but it’s worth it.  The video below is from a training session I had recently with Cory Trice (’23 draft pick Pittsburgh Steelers),  Deshon Eilliot (Miami Dolphins) and Jayden Herbert a junior college defensive back.

In the video I am discussing the elements of press and how it is a battle over space.  I speak of how it is important own your space in press man and do so early in the game or you will have problems throughout the contest.  It is a very informative discussion on what receivers are trying to do to you at the line of scrimmage and how you can defeat it so things end up in your favor.

I then progress into a jam drill with specific principles that defensive backs need to follow when in press man so that they can be effective and end up in good position during the route.  Both the discussion and the drill are very important for players to understand if they want to be good press corners.  You win with angles and I tell you how to get them.
