Post Views: 819This is one of my favorite drills to work on man-to-man coverage. The fade is one of the most, if not the most, feared patterns in football. The Play the Fade Drill works on the defensive back’s ability to get in position, get his head around, and make a play on the ball. This is something that a good number of defensive backs struggle with. Often, they are afraid to get their head around on fade patterns, either because they don’t want to see the ball coming or they are afraid they will not find the ball or be in position. The key aspects of defending the fade and how this drill is set up are discussed in the video below, so there’s no need for me to repeat them here. It’s a solid drill that really helps with defending the ball down the field. It’s a shame to do good work at the line of scrimmage, be in position, but not make the play when the ball comes. The Play the Fade Drill works wonders to correct this problem with defensive backs.
