USC vs texas

Catch technique is a strong weapon in coverage for those who want to master it.  It gives the defender the opportunity to defend almost any route he will get from a slot WR.

In this video,  I breakdown how using catch technique would’ve helped this USC DB in their game vs. Texas in 2018.  Through analysis,  I will talk you through how the technique he used put him at a disadvantage vs. the Texas WR and how using catch technique would’ve given him a better result.

Catch technique can be tricky for some to master.  It involves the defender buying into and trusting the technique.  When executed effectively,  it gives the offense very few options when they are trying to pass the football to their 10 catch per game slot guys.

    1. It’s a good technique to be used in certain situations. I prefer catch but learning a combination of scooch, catch, pedal and press in the slot is always good. The more tools at your disposal the better.
