Post Views: 1,630 With defenses moving to split field coverages more and more these days, there is a need for defenders to gain an understanding of the various options that are available coverage wise when you align with two safeties deep. One of those options is 2 Man which is what I am discussing in this video today. Two man is the safest man to man coverage that a defense can play. It calls for man to man coverage by five underneath defenders (cornerbacks, nickelbacks and linebackers) with support against the deep throw by two safeties deep on both hashes. When run right, 2 man is one of the best coverages that a secondary can run against a pass happy football team. It allows the defenders to sandwich the routes between the low defenders and the high defenders. However, 2 man requires quite a bit of drilling and mental strength for it to be properly executed. In the video, I discuss the basics of how this coverage is run, what is needed both physically and mentally by the players involved in it and what kind of offenses that this coverage is best to run against.
