While I’m an advocate of controlling your space and getting hands on a WR as soon as possible in press man,  especially if he’s coming right at you,  sometimes there is a good amount of space between you and the WR at the line of scrimmage so we may need to alter our technique.

In this video,  I discuss how to effectively execute soft man press while still being aggressive.  This drill shows you how.  We are pedaling out (soft press),  however,  we are still being aggressive by using our kick slide and a stiff punch when the WR meets our space.

Even if you are pedaling out,  at some point,  the WR will enter your space and this drill shows you how to obstruct him and disrupt his route.  One of my favorite drills in teaching soft press.  Take notes!
