Post Views: 1,515This is a quick clip of a rep from the Big 10 championship game this past weekend. In this clip, Buckeyes cornerback Damon Arnette is using the near hand punch technique in press man.In the video, I analyze this technique which I often get questions about. Traditionally, defensive back coaches will teach their players to use their off hand to jam a wide receiver that is taking an inside or outside release. This prevents the hips from locking up and allows the cornerback to stay in phase after the jam as the wide receiver proceeds down the field. The near hand punch technique is a nice change up to that train of thought and offers some advantages for the DB that is using it. I discuss what those advantages are and how this technique is to be executed to get the maximum effect from it.Should you have any questions, feel free to reach out to me via email at: cwilson@alleyesdbcamp.com – Thank you for being a member.AuthorRecent Posts alleyesdbcampOwner at All Eyes DB CampChad Wilson is the founder of All Eyes DB Camp and a former standout defensive back for the Miami Hurricanes.
