Post Views: 1,820 Chad Wilson – Owner – All Eyes DB Camp Disrupting a pass offense is the goal of every defensive coordinator and defensive back coach when taking on an opponent. Of course, stopping the run is the primary goal but if you are effective at your first objective (stopping the run) then you better be prepared to achieve your second objective (disrupting the passing game) if you want to secure the victory. I am a strong proponent of using catch technique vs. slot defenders even in man coverage and this video is going to show you why. Coaches are going to take a keen interest in this video but this video is definitely for players too. You need to see why catch technique is beneficial to you in coverage vs. slot WRs. In the video, I show you a few clips of one of the teams I coaches, American Heritage School in Plantation, FL executing catch technique in Cover 1 vs. a very talented team in Bishop Sullivan out of Virginia. In the clips, I show you how we neutralized their slot WRs in their passing game and disturbed the QBs reads and timing. It eventually led to their offense opting for lower percentage throws and limited their overall effectiveness. As a note, we ended up winning the game on the road in Virginia, 14-7. Catch technique is very effective when executed properly. There is a mental element to executing the coverage that I will discuss in future videos. However , as far as the mechanics of executing the technique goes, you can find good information on that in this post: https://alleyesdbcamp.com/catch-technique-breakdown-florida-cornerback-marco-wilson/ As always, if you have any feedback or questions about this post or video, send email to me at: cwilson@alleyesdbcamp.com – cwilson@alleyesdbcamp.com Author Recent Posts alleyesdbcampOwner at All Eyes DB CampChad Wilson is the founder of All Eyes DB Camp and a former standout defensive back for the Miami Hurricanes.
