Post Views: 1,782 It is the most talked about coverage bust probably of the season and it came in a crucial moment. It was the bust near the end of the Rams vs. 49ers game that cost Los Angeles the game. This bust involves two player but one with more blame than the other. I talk about what went wrong here, who’s to blame and who holds more of the responsibility. The coverage in question is 2 man which is a common coverage run in the NFL, especially against quarterbacks that aren’t serious threats to run. Jimmy Garapolo is one of those quarterbacks. While he’s a decent athlete, he’s not what we would describe as a mobile quarterback and definitely is not a threat to pick up 17 yards with his feet in a 3rd and 16 situation. Are there some other coverages that could have been run in this situation? Certainly but I am not going to MOnday morning quarterback the call to that extent. I am going to, however, discuss why this call did not work.
