We all saw and if you haven’t by now, come out from under that rock you have been sleeping under. The New York Jets are a winless team in the NFL this year. On Sunday they were on their way to me not being able to say that in this blog post when they did something that allowed me to say that in this blog post.

Late in the game with 13 seconds left and the Raiders on the +46 yard line needing a touchdown, newly fired defensive coordinator Greg Williams ordered up an all out blitz with man coverage and no safety help. A crazy call indeed and one that proved to be fatal for the Jets and their rookie cornerback Lamar Jackson. Jackson was victimized for the game winner on the play and while I will place the blame squarely on the shoulders of the DC Greg Williams, there are somethings that Jackson could’ve done in the situation to help himself.

I want all of you watching this to learn from what happened to Jackson. Having situational awareness in game is highly underrated. Sometimes coaches can make mistakes and send in a bad call. It happens even to highly experienced veteran coaches. When the call comes in you have to play the call but knowing the situation can allow you to adjust how you play the call to protect yourself.

In the video below I talk about the things Jackson could’ve done under these extreme circumstances to minimize the risk and possible avoid the disaster that ensued. Enjoy the video and feel free to ask questions. Send email to: cwilson@alleyesdbcamp.com – As always thank you for being a member.
