Chad Wilson – All Eyes DB Camp

If you play long enough and against enough good wide receivers, you will get beat. You have to just let it go and move on to the next play. When all is said and done, you take an assessment of what went wrong and work to correct it so that it does not happen again.

In this clip, I break down where Bucs cornerback Carlton Davis went wrong on the go ball vs. the Packers in their NFC Championship matchup last Sunday. Davis has had a solid season by all accounts and has been given the full confidence of Todd Bowles the Bucs’ defensive coordinator to shadow the top wide receivers that they face each week. You do not achieve that by being anything less than great in man coverage.

However, in this rep, Davis committed a common mistake in press coverage that occurs at all levels. Davis’ aggressiveness and overwhelming desire to eliminate the WR resulted in his demise. Listen to the points of emphasis I make in this video and learn from it. By doing so, you can eliminate the amount of times that this happens to you in competition.

I have some solid drills that work on the principles that will keep you away from these type of mistakes in the game. Go to the “Press Man Drills” section in the member’s area to find them.

As always, feel free to reach out to me with any feedback or questions you may have about this video and or the the member’s area.
