Every retired NFL player knows this one thing for sure.  Over time your skills decline.  It doesn’t matter who you are.  As they say father time is undefeated.

Now if you are a high school or college football player,  that may not mean much to you but it should and here’s why.  By the time a player in the NFL reaches his 6th season,  his skill level and athleticism has peaked and is now on the down swing so how do they compete with the rookies and younger players?  One word: Knowledge.

With that in mind,  how good of a player could you be in your youth if didn’t just rely on your physical skills but instead combined it with incredible knowledge of the game.  How great would it be to have the athleticism of a rookie with the knowledge of a 10 year vet?  Those kind of players usually end up getting a gold jacket and a bust in Canton, Ohio.

As you make your journey towards becoming the best player you could be,  give a good amount of your focus towards knowing how to play the game.  Learn how defense works.  Learn how offenses attack and definitely learn proper technique.  There is more to training than just doing drills.
