Post Views: 1,539 When you are at the line of scrimmage in press mode as a cornerback you are expecting some kind of moves at the line of scrimmage before the WR sets on his way to his route. Every now and then they throw you a curve ball which is known as the speed release. What’s the speed release? It’s when the WR takes off on the snap of the ball and just starts running. No fakes, no moves just full out sprinting. In this video, I will show you how to defend that speed release. Obviously this type of release can take you by surprise but even if you are fully fooled by it, following the principles I outline for you in this video will help you stay in the proper position to be there in the end to defend the deep ball which is usually what is thrown when this type of release is taken. Occasionally, a speed release will result in a comeback or a curl route so we do need to maintain our discipline. Check out the tips I give you in this video and feel free to reach me via email if you have any questions or feedback. cwilson@alleyesdbcamp.com Author Recent Posts alleyesdbcampOwner at All Eyes DB CampChad Wilson is the founder of All Eyes DB Camp and a former standout defensive back for the Miami Hurricanes.
