By now you should already know how important flipping your hips is to you as a defensive back.  If that message has not sunken in yet then you will soon find out.

While there are several hip flipping drills that are out there,  most involve the player executing the flips on his own.   There is nothing wrong with the majority of those drills.  However,  none of them drive home the emphasis of how quickly those hip flips need to be executed the way the drill I show you in this video does.

Using a partner in the drill that is being demonstrated in today’s video,  really gives the defensive back a look into how much balance means,  how precise the flips need to be executed and how important it is to stay vertical after executing the flip.

I have a tutorial on this drill that I made several years ago but I felt the need to update that version a bit with the one I have shown below with a couple  more tips that are important to drive home my point.

In the video I am working with several NFL DBs (Marco Wilson, Pat Surtain II, Tyson Campbell and Jevon Holland) to emphasize the important points of the drill.  I hope you enjoy it and learn from it.

  1. Hi Chad,
    Great drill again!
Please give me the skill level of this drill? Can I teach this to young high school players or is this more advanced coaching drill?

    Thanks
    Joe

    1. You can definitely teach it to young high school football players that have a firm grasp on the basics. Also, you should come join us in the brand new All Eyes DB Camp Member’s Area. I would have been able to answer this question within a couple of hours on that platform. Copy this link and paste it into your browser: https://members.alleyesdbcamp.com
