while practice

In this video,  I break down how Cover 2 is played by the underneath defenders (cornerback and linebackers / nickel backs).  In the video you will get the keys to making the coverage work to your advantage and put you in position to make big plays in the coverage. The audio quality is not the greatest so make sure you have your volume all the way up.

The video not only includes a walk through of what the defenders are supposed to do including the proper place to have their eyes but it also includes two in game examples where you see it executed to perfection leading to turnovers.

Getting re-routes in cover 2 are of the utmost importance.  The whole essence of the coverage is being aggressive with the re-routes to disrupt both the timing and the spacing of the offensive play scheme.  The other thing that is essential in this coverage,  is getting our eyes in the right spot after the re-routes.  The cornerbacks must get their eyes on the #2 WR “after” their re-route and the inside defender (linebacker or nickel back) has to their eyes on the #1 WR after their re-route.
