Post Views: 1,962 By: Chad Wilson Slot defense is something I have talked about several times in this member’s area as I feel it is very vital. Nothing can frustrate a defense more than a slot WR who catches balls left and right especially on 3rd down to keep the defense on the field. If you know me then you know that I am a big proponent of using catch technique in the slot to guard wide receivers. I like this technique both in man and zone. The best defense against pesky slot guys is to get physical with them, move them off their line and disrupt the timing between him and the quarterback. IN the video below, I am analyzing the slot defense reps in practice against a Southern Mississippi WR that I found on YouTube. I have no idea when the video is from or who the slot WR is. However, I am using it as a teaching tool because I see a lot of what slot defenders try to do in games and practice that is not effective. So, in the video, I talk you through the reps and show you where the defenders went wrong and how applying the proper technique would be more advantageous for them. As always, I welcome your feedback and questions. Feel free to send them my way at cwilson@alleyesdbcamp.com – Thank you for being a member.
