Post Views: 1,194 There are two types of zones when you are playing defense. You are either dropping to a spot or you are dropping into a zone and matching up on a receiver. IN the video below, I get into the ins and outs of both the spot drop zone and the matchup zone. Most teams either run one type of zone or the other while some run both. No matter which one your team runs, it’s best to get an understanding of both whether you are a player or coach. As with all things, there are pros and cons. If you are a coach looking to run either one, it’s good to know the weaknesses of what you are running. As a player, it’s in your best interest to have an understanding of what your coach is running. First, if gives you confidence in where you are supposed to be and second, it gives your coach confidence in putting you out on the field. I used one basic coverage to give you an understanding of how spot drops differ from match ups. I did not feel it necessary to roll into more than one coverage for the explanation but if you feel that another coverage would be necessary to further your understanding, feel free to email me at cwilson@alleyesdbcamp.com and I will do that in a future video.
