Continuing with my series on watching film for defensive backs. In this video I am discussing the importance of what players the offense has in the game means to to the defense. I am also discussing how formation can dictate what plays may be coming.

As with wide receiver splits which I discussed in the previous video, who the offense has in the game means something. There is a reason that the offense takes a tight end out of the game and inserts a wide receiver. There is a reason that they take out a running back to add an extra wide receiver. Offenses don’t just sub guys into a game for no reason. Who they put in the game matters.

Similarly, formations matter too. The formations that offenses line up in can give you a clue as to what play may be coming. Through intense study of an opponents’ formations, you can uncover some deep tendencies that can allow you to anticipate certain plays. If you have an idea of what is coming then you put yourself that much closer to being able to make a play when the time comes.

As always, enjoy the video and if you have any questions or feedback, feel free to reach out to me via email at: cwilson@alleyesdbcamp.com -Thank you for being a member.
