Post Views: 2,108 In this Inside the Session, I am with my high school / college group and we are conducting a catch technique drill. During the drill, I am talking about how and why we use catch technique. I apologize in advance, it was a windy day as is normal during this time of year in South Florida. Have no fear though, most of the good stuff I am saying can be heard. There is a lot of room in the slot for WRs but not nearly as much as people think. Wide receivers don’t have unlimited room to execute their routes because there is timing and spacing to consider in relation to the other wide receivers in the formation. In addition, because there is all of that room, some athletes think that they should give ground to defend all of the space. Actually, the opposite is true. Giving ground gives access to space and space is all that the wide receivers and the quarterback want. We deny them access to that space by being physical using the catch technique. I am going to allow the video below to do the rest of the talking.
