Post Views: 2,650 A well executed hip flip can keep you on a WR’s hip like glue. However, there are some keys to a good swivel of the hips and none bigger than the key I am giving away in this video. This is a short 5 minute video where I am talking to 2019 NFL draft hopeful Yawn Coleman about the best way to stay on top of a WR after you make your hip flip. Many DBs prefer to speed turn once they are in a crossover run and the WR attacks their blindside. Speed turns are not my preferred method of handling a change of direction by a WR. Reason being, your eyes are the most important thing when covering and a speed turn puts you at a disadvantage because you take your eyes off of the WR to do it. Lately, WRs have been attacking DB’s backs for the sole purpose of making you speed turn only to break back against the DB’s turn. That’s bad for business. A hip flip keeps your eyes on the WR. However, some DBs don’t like the hip flip because they feel they lose speed when they perform it. Winning in covering is a result of proper use of technique and angles. This video lays out for you what you need to do to win when you make a hip flip. Enjoy it and if you have any questions, send me an email at: cwilson@alleyesdbcamp.com – Thank you for being a member.
