Post Views: 2,355 The video below shows a pass drop drill that I do at my all Eyes Db Camp sessions. It’s one of my favorite things to do as it teaches guys the real way to make plays when they are dropping in a spot zone while reading the quarterback. Often times guys are told to drop to certain areas when they are in a spot drop zone and they are not given detailed instructions on what they should do when they drop into that zone. In the drill, I am emphasizing what it is the players are reading when they are dropping into their zones. This could be outside linebackers or replacement DBs in sub packages. The important things in this drill: 1. Reading the drop of the quarterback. 2. Focusing on the front shoulder of the quarterback. 3. Watching the front hand of the quarterback. I go in depth on the on the Y on these three factors in the video below, this is a great drill and video for players as well as coaches. Hi Chad, Love this drill! I plan on working this drill with my LB’s but do you think DB’s could benefit from this drill? from the aspect of learning to read the QB… trigger. Also, if your caught in cover 3 and the offense shifts to 4 verts, what is the roll or drop from the Mike, Sam, or Will? Thank you Joe Log in to Reply
DBs that play Nickel can definitely benefit from this drill. I do this drill with all players playing their position. SO I have the safeties align on the hash or in the post and read my drops. I have the corners align outside and read my 3 step. I go from corner, to nickel then to safety. Just keep rotating during my training sessions.
