Post Views: 1,717 Sometimes that quarterback is going to give us better clues as to what is coming than the wide receiver will. That’s why it is important to be able to read both quarterback and wide receiver. In the video below, I give you some tips on how to read the quarterback as he is taking his drop so that you can anticipate the route that may be coming. This is one of those videos that I recommend that you watch more than once. There are tiny little details in this video that you can easily miss but they would make all the difference in the World as you are trying to execute. Quarterbacks have some very specific things they must do to deliver the ball on a pass play. As I progressed in my playing career, I found it easier to have the quarterback tell me where the ball was going instead of the receiver. The quarterback is under more pressure and often his moves come before that of the wide receiver’s. The technique I am talking about using in this video can be executed in both zone and man coverage. If you are using it in a zone, you have to be careful because you could end up jumping a route in a zone belonging to another player. If you are going to use it, alert your safety that you may be jumping the route if you get the clue so that he is poised to cover for you. If you are using it in a man to man situation, be sure to do the proper things with your eyes. What those things are, I discuss in the video.
